Be My Woman, is a short film by South African director Makere Thekiso (Simple Love and Stripped Down), which has been nominated for the La Jolla International Fashion Film Awards in four categories. It has been nominated for Best Sound Design, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Fashion.
“We are excited by the nomination. It is an indication of the continent’s creativity, our industry’s growth and our own maturity as a studio and me as a director,” Thekiso said.
Motheo Moeng, (Catching Feelings) is nominated for Best Cinematography, while Makere Thekiso is nomimated for Best Director for the same film. Moeng (SASC) is an accomplished cinematographer and he has worked on a wide variety of films from music to fashion films with documentaries and TV series in between. Thekiso is an accomplished producer (Vuzu Hustle) and film director at Callback Dreams.
Be My Woman is an abstract love story of complex feelings, beauty, confidence and fashion, shot in Johannesburg.
The La Jolla International Fashion Film Awards are held in San Diego, USA on 20 July 2018. LJIFF, also known as the Cannes of the fashion films, awards the best fashion films in the world.
