First ever African edition of international festival of craft, Ciclope, coming to Cape Town

Ciclope, the leading international festival that recognises and rewards exceptional craft in moving image, is hitting the shores of Cape Town on Tuesday, 10 April 2018. This will be the first ever Africa regional leg hosted at the city’s new critically acclaimed contemporary art museum, Zeitz MOCCA. Ciclope Africa aims to shine a light on production excellence across the continent.

Francisco Condorelli, director of Ciclope, says, “The festival is exclusively dedicated to promoting excellence in craft, and we look forward to recognising categories like Cinematography, Animation, Production Design, Visual Effects, Original Music and more.

“And what’s more is that Ciclope Africa’s Grand Prix and best works in each category will receive an automatic entry as finalists into the flagship annual festival, which will be hosted in Berlin later this year,” adds Condorelli.

Condorelli mentions that Ciclope Africa will provide a platform for directors, creatives, artists, producers and brands to celebrate exceptional work and share knowledge. Guests can look forward to being inspired by speakers including Daniel Bergmann, founder and managing director at Stink Film (UK); Peter Grasse, executive producer at Dictionary Films (Japan); as well as Mbithi Masya, director at Fat Rain Films (Kenya). With more to be announced in weeks to follow.
